VIGAN CITY FIESTA

Image
The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27. Bigueños from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the custom of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. They are joined by thousands of visitors from other parts of the Philippines and other countries in enjoying the cultural shows, parades, and street dancing prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. NEW YEAR: NEW BEGINNING

Image
The beginning of a new calendar year makes many people want to start fresh on some personal or professional habit. It is very necessary for me to set the target every year and try every waking moment to get the desired and set target. Everyone must dream to do something productive because dreaming and materializing dreams are akin to success.  I am a still student and being a student I have also made resolutions before, but just like anybody else, I too break it up. The most important of all is to be organized and to improve. I never have the habit of organizing my work and therefore end up in incomplete homework and projects.  So this year I plan to be more systematic and organized so that I finish my work on time and do not keep pending, the works assigned t...

CHRISTMAS SEASON AMIDST THE PANDEMIC

Image
This would probably be one in contemporary history when we are encouraged to celebrate the Christmas season in its essence, in its simplicity.   With a focus on the Covid virus, we are preoccupied with guidelines on how to celebrate Christmas this year– with only members of the family who are living in the same household, to continue wearing masks, observe social distancing, or wash hands frequently.  We are being discouraged from visiting one another for our mutual protection and safety.  The usual Christmas glee and merriment that we have been accustomed to is not possible this year.   But our celebration of Christmas should not be dampened by Covid! Let us spread more hope, peace, joy, and love this season!   And this is where I am reminded of the birth of our Savior.  The Christmas story is one of simplicity.  Our Lord and Savior were born in a manger with only his mother and father.  His guests were a shepherd, a few animals, and ...

Under Republic Act 10661, the National Children's Month (NCM) in the Philippines is annually celebrated every November, as it commemorates the adoption of the UN CRC on November 20, 1988. It seeks to instill its significance in the Filipino consciousness, as well as sustain the promotion and protection of children's rights. The year 2021 pose greater challenges and continuously aggravates underlying issues on the realization of children's rights as the country reels from the prolonged consequences of the pandemic. In this regard, the 29th NCM celebration in November will focus on children's rights in the new normal, woth the theme "NEW NORMAL NA WALANG IWANAN: KARAPATAN NG BAWAT BATA ATING TUTUKAN!". Since the global onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, environments, where children thrive, were disrupted and these affect the rights of the children to survive, develop, be protected, and participate safely and fully. The 29th NCM focus and theme for ...
